Obtaining Magpie

Persons interested in obtaining this version of Magpie should contact Prof. Christoph Sensen. Once a username and password have been issued, the latest production version of the code may be downloaded using the Concurrent Versions System. A pre-compiled binary for Solaris is available from sunfreeware.com.

Do the following steps:

  1. Decide where you want to install the program files. e.g. /opt/magpie
  2. Change to the parent directory of the destination, e.g. /opt
  3. Set the environment variable CVSROOT to :pserver:username@www.visualgenomics.ca:/export/data/cvs
  4. Type cvs login, you will be prompted for your password
  5. Type cvs checkout magpie, screens full of files will be downloaded
  6. Type cvs logout, to end
